Our Mission and Social Action
As part of seeking to live faithfully as Gods people we are dedicated to reflecting the love, grace and compassion of God in our world. We have a number of areas in which we participate in mission and social action.
KIDS HOPE
In 2008 our church community in partnership with Hub Primary School began the Kids Hope mentoring program. Each week of the term volunteers from our church meet with a child from the local school to help them with homework, reading, and sport etc. Kids Hope is an imitative of World Vision Australia, "KIDS HOPE AUS is a ministry aimed at creating a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable Australian children and their families. It is a mentoring ministry built on a long-term partnership between local churches and primary schools, where a caring adult from the church spends one hour each week with a child".
CareWorks
Our church is passionately involved in the ongoing ministry of CareWorks through financial giving, volunteer support, and food and clothing donations. Care Works has a rich history of more than 50 years of providing welfare services for the disadvantaged, assisting prisoners and their families and refugee support. CareWorks, is an agency of Churches of Christ in SA & NT seeking to provide emergency assistance, financial counselling and support services to the disadvantaged.
Childcare Kitgum Servants (CKS)
Childcare Kitgum Servants provides food, education and training, and medical care to over 8000 children in northern Uganda. The church actively supports this work. Click here to go to the CKS website.
Global Mission Partners (GMP)
Happy Valley Church of Christ is a member church of Global Mission Partners. GMP provides for the physical and spiritual needs of people in many countries, including: Fiji, India, Papua New Guinea, and Sudan. Click here to go to the GMP website.
Fairtrade
As of 2008 Happy Valley Church of Christ have begun serving Fairtrade coffee as part of ongoing commitment to justice for all people no mater where in our world they may live. This is a small way in which we believe we reflect God's heart for the poor and his desire to bring justice to the oppressed.
